AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce the delivery of two intermediate twin engine AW139 helicopters to Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), just six months after contract award.

The aircraft will be used to perform offshore transport missions from Brunei Shell’s Anduki base in Brunei and they will benefit from a comprehensive power-by-the-hour support package delivered by AgustaWestland Malaysia from its Kuala Lumpur facility.

Vincenzo Alaimo, AgustaWestland’s Head of Regional Sales for SE Asia, said “We are delighted to add Brunei Shell to the list of operators now flying the AW139 for offshore oil and gas support. We look forward to supporting these aircraft from our regional hub here in Malaysia and are sure the AW139s performance and comfort will be greatly appreciated by both the aircrew and passengers.”

State-of-the-art technology, outstanding performance, low operating costs and the only helicopter in its class to meet the latest certification standards, have made the AW139 the helicopter of choice in the medium twin market and the benchmark in the global oil & gas sector. With its power reserve, the AW139 delivers Category A (Class 1) performance from a helipad (elevated or at ground level) at maximum take-off weight with an unmatched one engine inoperative capability. The standard configuration provides seating for 12 or 15 passengers in a large and bright 8.0 m3 cabin with excellent access and egress via large sliding cabin doors. High payload and performance ensures the AW139 delivers unmatched productivity for offshore operations.

Over 200 customers from nearly 60 countries have ordered more than 720 AW139 helicopters, almost 250 of which are dedicated to offshore operations.

AgustaWestland Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of AgustaWestland, continues to play a major role in the regional helicopter market, expanding its presence and increasing its capabilities through a continued programme of investment. Located at Kuala Lumpur's Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, AgustaWestland Malaysia’s regional maintenance and support centre is a Malaysian DCA approved maintenance and repair organization. AgustaWestland Malaysia Sdn Bhd provides local support and training for the growing fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters in the region.

Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd’s activity is primarily for the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas from onshore and offshore fields. BSP is by far the largest oil and gas producer in Brunei Darussalam and produces 350,000 barrels of oil and gas equivalent every day.
