Competitions to generate ideas in various fields help Leonardo to promote the concept that 'development is a continuous challenge', to maintain a fertile source of ideas and to foster a powerful blend of skills and the exchange of knowledge.
To strengthen the network of wide-ranging collaborations and the relationship with customers, Leonardo organises contests and ‘calls for ideas’. Innovative and challenging initiatives, such as hackathons, are valuable tools to identify the best talents in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field and to involve the younger generation in originating ideas – for example through the Innovathon event.
Similar initiatives are also promoted across Leonardo as an excellent tool to stimulate creativity and foster teamwork. Examples include the Innovation Award and Call for Entrepreneurship.
These initiatives complement ongoing research and development processes, providing additional sources of innovation to be pursued and integrated into Leonardo's business, and increase the company's ability to create and capture value and talent.
