Innovation and excellence: a constant evolution

Innovation and excellence: a constant evolution

The history of our company has undergone many changes over time, always maintaining the pursuit of excellence as its underlying mission. Our open innovation mindset helps us solidify as a dynamic and future-oriented Group that never stops exploring new ideas and growing together with its customers.

From the first helicopters to the tiltrotor; from the first aircraft to drones; from the electronic revolution to the digital one; from Earth to Space: in each of these important milestones, we have played an important role, developing key technologies that contribute to building new development models for a safer, innovative and more inclusive world.

We are working on digital transformation, the new frontier that will radically change our main markets and also generate unexplored opportunities in Industry 4.0. We want to help create a more interconnected world and redesign the economic and social dimensions of our industry, making our customers an active part in this process, while implementing an innovative and valuable supply chain.

Technological excellence driven by creativity and passion

Continuous innovation is the essence of our work and the driving force behind our sustainable growth. Technological excellence makes us a driver of industrial and economic development in the countries we are present, creating qualified employment and aggregating supply chains with high-tech value.

Technological excellence driven by creativity and passion

We invest approximately 12% of our revenues in Research and Development activities (1.4 billion euro in 2018).  We employ about 10,700 engineers in our Group – mostly aeronautical and aerospace, electronics, mechanical, computer science and telecommunications - and over 9,000 Research and Development resources. We are ranked fourth in the world and third in Europe in terms of Research and Development investments in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector.

We believe that innovation needs fertile terrain in which it can grow and develop, and that it cannot remain confined in laboratories but, on the contrary, it must open up to the outside and be contaminated by new ideas and designs. This is why we rely on an extensive network of collaboration projects with universities, research centres, customers, suppliers and start-ups. With a two-fold advantage: to produce innovative solutions that best meet market demands and help spread a solid scientific and technological culture.
