Co-General Manager

Lorenzo Mariani was appointed Co-General Manager of Leonardo S.p.A on 1 June 2023.

From 1 September 2020 to the end of May 2023, he was Executive Group Director Sales and Business Development of MBDA  and Managing Director of MBDA Italia.
He previously worked in MBDA from 2002 to 2005 where he held the position of Head of Product Strategy.

Prior to his most recent assignment in MBDA , and after spending his career in positions of increasing importance within Leonardo (formerly Finmeccanica) Mr. Mariani served as  Chief Commercial Officer of Leonardo from October 2017 and , additionally , from May 2018, as Chief Executive Officer of Leonardo International, managing all the company’s subsidiaries.

Mr Mariani was previously Managing Director of the Land & Naval Defence Electronics Division at Leonardo from January 2016 to September 2017. He also held this role at SELEX Electronic Systems from January 2013 – December 2015, which he retained after the company was part of a merger that eventually formed Leonardo. 

Prior to that, Mr Mariani was in SELEX Sistemi Integrati, which he joined in 2006, after his first experience in MBDA. Positions held there included Deputy Chief Operating Officer (July 2010 - November 2011) and Chief Operating Officer (December 2011 - December 2012).

From 1992 to 2002, he worked for Alenia and AMS. His roles there included Radar Systems Analyst, Designer of Multifunction Naval Radar and On Board Integrator, Sales Manager for South America, and then Sales Manager for Europe/NATO, in the Land Systems Division.

Lorenzo Mariani received a degree with honours in Electronic Engineering in 1990 and served as an Officer of the Italian Navy in 1991.
