The aircraft is a multi-role lightweight fighter equipped with the multi-mode Grifo M346 radar, with Identification Friend or Foe (IFF)  and specifically optimized for the M-346FA variant.

Mission & features

Highly cost-effective tactical solution

For the modern battlefield. At the same time the FA variant keeps all the features of the M-346AJT (Advanced Jet Trainer), providing the air forces with maximum commonality, operational flexibility and advanced training capabilities.

7 external hard-points

Available for an extensive variety of air-to-air and air-ground weapons (IR, Radar, laser/GPS guided and un-guided) and several external loads including gun, reconnaissance, target designation or electronic warfare pods.

Communications and self-protection

The aircraft have a high-end net-centric communications suite with a Secure Communications system and Tactical Data Link, an extremely complete self-protection system (DASS – Defensive Aids Sub-System). A Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) system and Voice Command are also available.

ETTS

The Embedded Tactical Training Simulation (ETTS) suite from the AJT enables M-346FA to still be used as an Advanced Jet Trainer, Lead-In Fighter Trainer (LIFT), to offer the whole spectrum of simulated training functions in flight and to be integrated in the fully validated M-346 Integrated Training System (ITS) with Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) capabilities.

Air-to-air refueling
