The Slovak Armed Forces will acquire two new tactical transport aircraft, the C-27J of Finmeccanica - Alenia Aermacchi, allowing the Air Force of the Central European country to become more interoperable with NATO, of which Slovakia is an active member since 2004.

Slovakia is planning to increase its contribution to NATO and the C-27J Spartan, due to its excellent ability in operational theaters, is the fundamental means to ensure full interoperability with other, bigger, military transport aircraft used in the framework of international coalitions.

78 aircrafts have been ordered by many air forces worldwide in which it is already fully operational, as it represents the best solution available today in the new-generation, medium battlefield airlifter's category and has become a reference point for European and NATO countries.

Signed in recent days by the Slovak Ministry of Defence and Finmeccanica - Alenia Aermacchi, the contract provides, in addition to the supply of the two aircraft, the related logistical support and initial training of pilots and maintenance personnel.

The Slovak choice confirms the optimal compliance of the aircraft characteristics for precise and high standards of reliability and flexibility, and guarantees an excellent balance between cost and performance.
