To ensure LMW Ltd Helicopter Division meets its responsibilities under current health and safety legislation, the Company has implemented arrangements comprising: 

  • Policy HSEP C-02 that details how contractors are assessed (WA3589) and the terms and conditions of work on site (WA1918)
  • Induction training for all contractors and sub contractors personnel.
  • Contractor disciplinary procedure.

All contractors and sub-contractors visiting the LMW Ltd Helicopter Division  site to undertake work on buildings, plant, equipment and/or infrastructure services, must have submitted a WA3589 questionnaire and signed agreement to the WA1918 General Conditions of Work on Site prior to the visit.

Please note: Personnel requiring access to the site must have gained security clearance as detailed in WA1918.

REACH and Material Declaration

LMW Ltd Helicopter Division has been working in accordance with a number of EU legislative requirements that now require our suppliers to notify
LMW Ltd Helicopter Division  of their compliance. The EU legislative requirements cover:


  • Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals EC No. 1907/2006. (REACH) (As Amended) http://echa.europa.eu/web/guest/home
  • Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment EU No’s 2002/95/EC and 2011/65/EU. (RoHS) http://rohs.eu/
  • Basic Safety Standards for the Protection of the Health of Workers and the General Public Against the Dangers Arising from Ionising Radiation European Directive No. 96/29/EUROTOM. www.euratom.org
  • REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemical substances) is the EU regulation for safe chemical use that entered into force on 1st June 2007.  Its main aims are “to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks of chemicals while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry”.  In the UK, the authority with responsibility for REACH is the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

These obligations, summarised below, affect everyone in the EU supply chain, from importers and manufacturers through to the final point of sale

  • Suppliers of articles containing substances on the Candidate List in a concentration above 0.1% w/w have to provide sufficient information to ensure safe use of the article including, as a minimum, the name of the substance.
  • Suppliers of substances on the Candidate List must provide a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
  • Suppliers of preparations not classified as dangerous must provide a SDS upon request if the preparation contains a listed substance above 0.1% w/w (0.2% w/w for gaseous preparations).

Environmental/Sustainable Supply Chain

LMW Ltd Helicopter Division takes environmental performance seriously.  We are an ISO14001 approved company and are part of the leading group of suppliers who have signed the MoD's Sustainability Charter.  These two requirements mean that LMW Ltd Helicopter Division needs to understand the environmental and ethical performance of its supply base.

In an effort to identify the supply chain carbon footprint and efforts to reduce carbon and energy, LMW Ltd Helicopter Division ask Suppliers about their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Sustainability Policy. , LMW Ltd Helicopter Division supply chain sustainability performance will reviewed in accordance with three standard measures:

  1.  Emissions
  2.  Waste
  3.  Water

Supplier Bar Code Receipting (Applicable for suppliers not SupplyOn migrated)

The Supplier shall provide a 2 dimensional bar code (Type PDF417) with each consignment at Purchase Order line item level.  One bar code shall be securely affixed to the outer packaging and one bar code securely fixed on the innermost packaging of the Equipment/Supplies despatched by the Supplier to the Company.  Information for the specifics of the string format requirements can be found in PJT-354340 - Bar Code Protocol document below.

Offset & Industrial Participation
The Leonardo Helicopter Division Offset & Industrial Participation Team is responsible for the management of all company offset, industrial participation, counter-trade activities and associated obligations from inception to completion. 
Key elements of this role are:

  • Preparing, managing and submitting Offset Proposals to assist International Campaigns and Global Sales to win new business.
  • Negotiating Offset Contracts, Agreements and Obligations with customers and suppliers that maximise offset value and minimise cost and risk to the business.
  • Identifying, analysing and obtaining approval of Business Cases for offset projects within Leonardo Helicopters and with 'in country' suppliers and partners.
  • Developing business plans for innovative programme solutions that both maximise the performance of Leonardo Helicopters products and services and their offset credit value.
  • Reporting and claiming Offset Credits with Offset Authorities to achieve contracted Offset Obligations.
  • Obtaining, abating and closing Bank Guarantees associated with contracted Offset Obligations.
  • Managing the exchange of Offset Credits between Leonardo Divisions and external parties.
  • Communicating information and training personnel about the business importance of offset as a mechanism for increasing revenue and profit.
