Realistic Intelligent Agents for Computer Environments

RIACE is a Synthetic Environment of last generation where complex scenarios evolve with increasing levels of fidelity and exploiting artificial intelligence technologies that realistically mimic human behaviour. Constructive players built using state of the art mathematical models of platforms, sensors, and weapons interact within a realistic natural environment.

RIACE is able to simulate and distribute through either HLA or DIS to several users connected in a geographic network single events (e.g. 1-vs-1 air-to-air engagements) or complex missions with the participation of air, land and sea assets (e.g. COMAO). RIACE allows the simulation of high-intensity and low-intensity war scenarios, inclusive of auto-generated civilian air traffic, merchant and fishing ships, pedestrian and vehicular traffic on urban and country roads. Within these models it is possible to insert specific elements like smugglers and immigrant traffickers, insurgents and other kind of players of interest for a realistic and immersive reproduction of a particular training scenario for military or emergency management purposes.

RIACE math models are developed by a skilled team of System Engineers utilizing modern techniques of model-based engineering artificial intelligence and state-of-the-art engineering tools (e.g. CFD solvers for determining the aerodynamic datasets of aerial platforms and weapons) that allows high levels of fidelity and complexity.

RIACE based synthetic environments are currently in use in High-end Full Mission Fighter simulators like Tornado and Typhoon. RIACE has been used for the exercise Spartan Alliance 18-8 allowing the geo-federation of several Italian simulators with the  USAFE Warrior Preparation Center (WPC) in Ramstein simulating, within the exercise, a large number of constructive air, maritime and ground players.
