The ’Mathematics i.lab’ is fruit of the partnership between Leonardo and the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
It focuses on fluid dynamics and the mathematical models applied to flight, developed thanks to a simulation software created by Milan Polytechnic University. Using this, the visitor will be able to immerse their image in a fluid, in a sort of virtual wind gallery.
The laboratory has been created as a permanent area in which to perform mathematics in an experimental way.
A tool which makes a significant contribution to the joint project by Leonardo and the Museum: bringing the public, especially youth and young people, closer to the subject in an informal, fun way, by adopting a scientific yet unexpected method, inside a space which is functional but nothing like the classic idea of a laboratory or classroom.
Indeed, the innovative educational approach is geared to develop the skills of the 21st century, with a particular focus on gender equality.
