Black Snake

Towed array sonar for detection, fast classification and localization of incoming torpedoes. Its small footprint and weight makes it suitable for any vessel size, while delivering excellent performance in terms of distance and accuracy

The Black Snake is a towed sonar expressly designed to detect and classify attacking torpedoes. This sensor has been designed to be integrated with Defence Systems Division countermeasure systems, in particular as “alert” part of the C310; its characterized particularly small sizes as regards weight and dimensions allow it to be installed also on small and medium tonnage ships that cannot host traditional towed sensors typically bigger and heavier.

The long distance covered by the Black Snake to detect an attacking torpedo and the accuracy of its measurements are the result of the use of an innovative algorithm that makes it effective also with extremely noiseless modern torpedoes.
