The AW139M - military version of the AW139 – has been designed to perform a wide range of missions, day and night, in the most challenging environments. Operators worldwide benefit from advanced technology, high power margins and inherent high levels of safety and survivability. The largest cabin in its class maximises operational flexibility and can be equipped with dedicated role equipment, including optional internal and external weapon systems.

Mission capability

The AW139M can perform a wide spectrum of missions including Battlefield Support, Tactical Troop Transport, Logistics Support, Threat Suppression, Fire Support, Command and Control, Medical Evacuation and Personnel Recovery, Search and Rescue, Combat Search and Rescue, Maritime Patrol and Homeland Security.

Outstanding technology

The Night Vision Goggles (NVG) compatible glass cockpit has four large Liquid Crystal Displays with an optional fifth display for moving map and cameras. The state-of-the-art integrated digital avionics system is integrated with 4-axis digital autopilot and features advanced Search and Rescue modes. Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) optimises helicopter performance in any condition.

Inherent safety and survivability

Low visual, thermal and acoustic signature, system redundancy, self-sealing fuel tanks, ballistic protection, heavy duty landing gear and crashworthiness ensure AW139M has high levels of safety and survivability. The advanced defensive aids suite contributes to the AW139M safety and mission success.

Maximum cabin flexibility

The large reconfigurable cabin with modular armour can carry troops with all their mission equipment. Two large sliding doors ensure rapid troop deployment in operational theatres or recovery of stretchers in flight. Window-mounted machine guns can provide covering threat suppression. Cockpit armour protects the aircrew.

1,000th AW139 helicopter delivered

On September 20th, we celebrated a historic achievement: the delivery of the 1,000th AW139, the most important helicopter programme in the last 15 years at an international level.
