On September 2019 Leonardo celebrated a historic achievement: the delivery of the 1000th AW139. Belonging to the AWFamily of products, the AW139 can perform a large number of missions thanks to its superior performance, proven technologies and safety features. The platform accommodates up to 15 passengers at the highest speed, in the most spacious cabin, with the best power reserve of any helicopter in its class.

Passengers can enjoy a relaxing flight thanks to the largest cabin in its class, finished in the finest interior trims. The wide hinged doors with the single electrical retractable step ensure easy access for all passengers, whilst the baggage compartment provides high capacity for luggage.

Mission ready

The AW139 features a jointly developed configuration for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Search and Rescue (SAR) missions and can accommodate a wide range of dedicated role equipment. Its advanced technology, safety design features and superior performance ensure effective intervention when somebody’s life is in danger. Category A with Performance Class 1 certification allows safe operations also in case of emergency conditions.

The AW139 is designed to fulfil the latest certification requirements, incorporating crashworthiness and safety features. State-of-the-art integrated avionics systems, fully digital glass cockpit and role equipment such as the Obstacle Proximity Lidar System (OPLS) minimise pilot workload and improve situational awareness. The Full Ice Protection System (FIPS) and the Limited Ice Protection System (LIPS) are both available as options.

Exceptional cabin flexibility - SAR

The large, brightly lit, versatile cabin delivers abundant working room and can be configured in a variety of layouts, including accommodation for fully integrated mission console, medical treatment and casualty evacuation interiors. A separated baggage compartment, optionally accessible from the cabin, can be utilised to stow stretchers or SAR equipment.

Exceptional cabin flexibility - EMS

The largest and unobstructed cabin in its class can accommodate up to 5 medical attendants and 4 stretchers longitudinally and transversally, along with a full suite of the most advanced life-support equipment, permitting entire access to the patient. The large sliding doors on each side are designed for easy stretcher loading, both on ground and in flight.

Designed to exceed the latest safety requirements, the AW139 is also qualified for the most stringent guidelines of the major Oil and Gas companies.

Exceptional cabin flexibility

The wide and versatile cabin can be configured to accommodate up to 15 passengers and can be quickly reconfigured for Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) with dedicated EMS self-contained equipment. The large sliding doors allow easy, quick entry and egress both on helideck and during winch operations. The wide baggage compartment space is accessible from both side of the helicopter.

Extensive multi-role capability

The AW139 is able to reach offshore Oil and Gas and Wind turbine platforms quickly and safely, ensuring maximum operational productivity and efficiency. The best-in-class power reserve provides excellent Category A Class 1 performance capabilities in a wide range of operating conditions.
