•    Over 7,000 aircraft all over the world use nacelles components manufactured  by Leonardo

A ceremony took place today at Leonardo Aircraft Division Venegono Superiore (Varese) site for the delivery of the 7,000th nacelle (INLET & FAN COWL) to UTC Aerospace Systems.

The contract obtained in 1994 has seen significant growth in production rates over the years, delivering an average of over 500 units per year.

With over 15,000 units built, Leonardo produces nacelles for the large Airbus airliners, Embraer’s regional aircraft, Sukhoi Superjet 100, Comac ARJ21 and Dassault’s executive jets.

The engineering and manufacturing capabilities of Leonardo enable the design and production of nacelles able to meet the complex acoustic, aerodynamic and structural requirements by managing the several phases of the product’s life cycle, including logistic support.

Leonardo is leader in the field of nacelle production and also operates in partnership and through collaborations such as that with MHD company, a joint venture with Safran Nacelles.

Leonardo participates actively in research in this field, with particular focus on the reduction of noise pollution from the engines of commercial airplanes.
