Day 1

Leonardo’s Helicopter Division was the protagonist of numerous events during the first day of Heli-Expo 2018.

The day began with an event organised for over 170 Leonardo customers and which saw the participation of  Gian Piero Cutillo and Roberto Garavaglia, respectively the Managing Director and the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Competitive Analysis, who both presented on the Division’s wide product range.  During the event, three of the major operators of Leonardo helicopters gave short presentations on their respective experiences collaborating with the Company. Furthermore, an agreement between Leonardo and Era Group, one of the largest helicopter operators in the world, was announced at the event. This agreement would launch the AW609 into service in the US commercial market, with the objective of demonstrating the tiltrotor’s versatility through its use in a wide range of missions. The proceeds from the event, held at the Keep Memory Alive Center, will support the activities of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which is focused on patient care, offers social services and is deeply involved in research.

 

Signing ceremony with Sino-US

 

The day’s events continued at Leonardo’s stand at Heli-Expo with a ceremony to celebrate the AW139 global fleet’s 2,000,000 flight hours milestone, attended by the major operators that contributed to the realisation of this important achievement.

 

Moreover, several important contract signing ceremonies took place at the Leonardo stand. Amongst which with Sino-US Intercontinental Helicopter Investment, the distributor of Leonardo in the Chinese civil and commercial helicopter market, for 26 helicopters including 7 AW119Kx, 15 AW109 Trekker and 4 intermediate AW139 and with Sloane Helicopters for two helicopters. In regards to Customer Support & Training (CS&T) activities, Leonardo has signed a contract with CAMP that foresees a collaboration to develop new tools for the maintenance and the management of fleets, and with EagleCopter for the opening of a new service center.

In conclusion, several presentations were held at the Leonardo stand by colleagues to illustrate the Helicopter Division’s products and the offer of tools and services within Customer Support & Training, as well as by our customers, such as KingWing that shared its activities in air ambulance missions in China, having also reached the significant milestone of 3,000 flight hours while carrying out such missions.
