Securing the 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina

24 February 2021

As well as being the slogan of Cortina 2021, ‘Because #wecareabout’ fully encapsulates the values and commitment of Leonardo in providing a range of security measures for the World Ski Championships recently held in the jewel of the Dolomites, Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Leonardo took care of the safety of the 600 participating athletes from over 70 countries worldwide, as well as that of their teams, the technicians who worked to ensure that the championships could take place, and the attending audience, however limited by the Covid restrictions.

The two-week competition (7-21 February) took place in the utmost safety, thanks to the technologies provided by Leonardo for the Police, the Cortina 2021 Foundation, the athletes and the citizens of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Leonardo implemented its state-of-the-art Cyber Security solutions, including: strategic and operational planning; comprehensive risk analysis; video surveillance with advanced analysis; data classification; secure communications; onsite training; and technical/operational support. Additionally, the company set up a purpose-built control room in the centre of Cortina, from which the police, in continuous contact with their colleagues on the slopes and across the city, could comprehensively manage the event’s security.

As always, we take care of your safety.
