Leonardo and Telespazio challenge students and researchers from all over the world with #T-TeC contest on space issues

02 August 2021

Applications are now being taken for the #T-TeC 2021, Telespazio Technology Contest, an Open Innovation initiative now in its third edition and promoted by Leonardo and Telespazio to create synergies between the business world and the world of research aimed at accelerating and stimulate the innovation process in the space sector.

With #T-TeC 2021, Leonardo and Telespazio promote technological innovation in the space sector among the younger generations, expanding the international dimension by opening up to students and researchers from universities and departments all over the world and also through the particular setting of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, of which Leonardo is a sponsor.

Participants will be asked to discuss, with a deadline of November 14, four technological macro-themes of significant importance for the present and the future of the space sector: “Space Exploration”, “In-Orbit Servicing”, “GeoInformation Applications and Platforms” and “Space Situation Awareness & Space Traffic Management”.

During the Space week at Expo 2020 Dubai, participants will have the chance to connect at the Italy Pavilion to ask questions and seek advice from Leonardo and Telespazio’s team of experts, who will be meeting Emirati start-ups and university academics for the occasion.

Also at Expo 2020 Dubai, the three winning teams will be named in December. The awardees will be selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from Telespazio, Leonardo, industry experts and the most important space agencies, and will win cash prizes worth of €10,000 (1st prize), €6,000 (2nd prize) and €4,000 (3rd prize). There are also four special mentions, one for each macro-theme in the tender, with the possibility of funding research contracts or collaborations for the most promising ideas.
