UK Partnerships

We work with institutions and professional bodies to inspire future generations into engineering and manufacturing and to encourage innovation and growth in our company and the UK.

UK Partnerships

Our work with UK industry, institutions and academia is extensive and includes relationships with organisations including ADS, techUK, The Royal Aeronautical Society, The Royal United Services Institute, The Confederation of British Industry, Engineering UK, The Institute of Engineering and Technology, The Institute of Physics, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers and UK Space.

The sector partners with over 20 universities in the UK, including on PhDs and research projects. In addition, the Electronics, Defence & Security Systems sector invests heavily in school engagement and supporting Science, Maths, Technology and Engineering (STEM) curriculums. Annually, the sector’s educational outreach programme engages around 2,500 school children and college students, to ensure the skills and knowledge which are vital to the UK are retained.

The Electronics, Defence & Security Systems sector funds research and development, as both standalone projects and in partnership with Government, to retain world-leading technological advantage and to nurture innovation. Our edge comes from having the latest technology, which is why we re-invest 18% of revenues back into research and development.

The Electronics, Defence & Security Systems sector has a broad export programme from the UK worth £500 million a year. This makes the sector one of the top contributors to UK exports in the defence and security sector. Last year, the Electronics, Defence & Security Systems sector sourced from more than 1,200 British companies (including over 900 Small and Medium Enterprises), across every part of the UK.
