Finmeccanica – Competenze che vengono da lontano

The publication of the book marked the conclusion of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Finmeccanica's foundation. The volume retraces the Group's history from 1948, when it originated as a holding company for the large public holding IRI, until 2008, when it was transformed into one of the largest Italian manufacturing groups, a leader in advanced technologies.

The author, Vera Negri Zamagni, a professor of economic history at the Economics Faculty of the University of Bologna, follows the "line" of the history, the succession of events and changes; she recounts the current "roots" and offers here readers a quantitative analysis of the economic characteristics the Group has assumed in the course of its sixty years of life: revenues, exports, labour force, sectorial and geographical organization, profitability, Group directors.

The book is part of the “Storie di imprese” (“History of businesses”) series published by Il Mulino, a collection of studies on important Italian enterprises, in the conviction that investigating and disseminating history can provide an important contribution to the in-depth knowledge of the economic fabric of our country.
