Climate change

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Since 2008 we participate in CDP's Climate Change Program, an initiative born from the growing interest of institutional investors for ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) issues, confirming our constant commitment to reduce the carbon footprint. In 2020, confirming our position in the Leadership band for the fourth year in a row, we achieved a score of A, on a decreasing scale from A to F, in the annual evaluation on the quantity and quality of information related to environmental management and to emissions into the atmosphere. The evaluation recognises Leonardo’s commitment to emission reduction, the mitigation of risks linked to climate change, and for undertaking a careful environmental strategy.

Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)

In 2017, we signed the commitment to support the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), activated by the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in order to develop a climate financial report to help to promote a smooth transition to a low-carbon economy through better information to support investments. Together with over 1,000 international companies, we are committed to voluntarily communicate information on governance, strategy, risks opportunities and metrics related to climate change, following the recommendations of the TCFD in our annual reporting.

European programs for sustainable mobility and environmental protection

We are at the forefront in the main aeronautical programs for the reduction of environmental impacts: we lead the platforms for the development of a new generation of tilt-rotors and of more efficient and ecological regional aircraft and we are partner of excellence in the development of common Air Traffic Management (ATM) infrastructures aimed at optimizing air traffic. We also participate in the main programs dedicated to the development of Earth's satellite observation capabilities for environmental monitoring and the management of humanitarian emergencies, climate change and civilian security.
