SEM, which is the acronym for Safe Eye on Mooring, is a system supporting the approaching and mooring operation for big ships (tankers, merchant ships, cruise ships, yachts), it can be easily adjusted and adapted to each dock geometry.

The system is formed by:

- Underwater electro-acoustic sensors placed along the ship’s mooring dock, in variable number according to the dimensions of the same dock;

- Central Processing and Control Unit;

- Portable visualization device used by the pilot on board the ship;

- Processed data transmission unit to the portable visualization device on board the ship.

It is important to underline that both the work frequencies and the emission levels have been selected so as to keep to the instructions supplied by studies on potential damages to the sea animals caused by the acoustic emissions.
