The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is the only U.S.-designed new generation combat aircraft now in production.
Italy is a Tier II partner in the programme, which the Italian Air Force and Navy have selected to recapitalise their tactical units.
Leonardo’s Aircraft Division operates the Final Assembly and Check-Out (FACO) line in Cameri, near Novara.
Italian and Dutch F-35s will be assembled at Cameri. Moreover, Cameri will later become the European and Mediterranean F-35 support center.
The Division is the second source for wing boxes, which are assembled also for U.S. aircraft using composite ad metal structures manufactured in the Foggia and Nola plants, in South Italy.
