Associazione Museo della Melara

The Museo della Melara in Brescia takes the form of a permanent photography exhibition featuring 200 black and white images, that tell the story of the Breda Meccanica Bresciana. It also includes a real bunker from the Second World War,  that was used to shelter the workers of the Company during the bombings.

Entering the bunker is an experience in itself  as, you can actually hear and feel the  “sounds of war”,  through a sound simulation that reenacts what our workers have lived through during a bomb raid.
The Melara Museum is managed by an association, the  ‘Museo della Melara Association’, established in 1985, which has among its objectives the conservation and growth of the company's historical archive, the enhancement of the industrial heritage and the promotion of studies and research on the history of enterprise culture.

Indeed, besides the Brescia’s Museum the Association manages the Breda Meccanica Bresciana Historical Archive and the OTO Melara Historical Archive, in the La Spezia plant, recognised by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as “of particularly significant historical interest” .
