Leonardo at ERF & SFTE-EC
Leonardo is participating in the 43rd edition of the European Rotorcraft Forum (ERF), one of the most important technical and scientific events dedicated to the rotorcraft world, with a major role as joint organiser of the event with the Politecnico di Milano.
The Forum, which this year is taking place from the 12th through the 15th of September, at the Politecnico’s Bovisa campus in Milan, annually brings together major helicopter manufacturers, research centres, academia, operators and regulatory agencies to discuss advances in the research, development, design, production, testing, and operation of rotorcraft.
The 28th Symposium of the Society of Flight Test Engineers is being held alongside the Forum, and the theme of this edition will be “Shaping the Future of Flight Testing".
The programmes of both events include plenary lectures, technical presentations, exhibitions, meetings focused on innovation and the latest trends in rotorcraft, with a focus on specialised areas such as acoustics, aerodynamics, avionics and sensor technology, flight security and mechanics, to name just a few.
Leonardo will be an active participant of the Forum with numerous speeches and presentations. In the opening session, the main topics discussed will include innovation from the point of view of transport and integrated helicopter services, and EMS helicopters’ role in rescue operations during major emergencies.
In addition to the presentations and testimonies by experts in the field, the static exhibitions and the Leonardo stand will host an AW169 helicopter in EMS configuration, an AW101 gearbox, a prototype of the new active blades, and a model of the new Next Generation Civil Tiltrotor.
The programme of the ERF and Symposium is particularly rich and varied this year. For the technical section of the Forum, 140 papers were selected, of which 22 submitted by Leonardo employees, while for the part relating to the Flight Test Engineers Symposium there are 22 papers, of which five submissions by Leonardo employees.
