Mauro Moretti, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Finmeccanica, appointed President of the Fondazione Ricerca & Imprenditorialità
Mauro Moretti, the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Finmeccanica, has been appointed today President of the Fondazione Ricerca & Imprenditorialità, a partnership between public Institutions and private enterprises. The appointment was decided by the Foundation’s Supervisory Council, which also designated Giampio Bracchi, President of the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, as Vice President.
“The Foundation’s objective is essential in giving new momentum to the entrepreneurship that has always characterised Italy’s industrial fabric and whose value is acknowledged worldwide, through products ‘Made in Italy’, as a synonym of creativity, innovation and top-level quality,” Mr Moretti said. “I am honoured to chair the Board of this Foundation, of which Finmeccanica is a founding member. I am absolutely convinced that the future of Italy and of the Group will be hauled forward by ever-growing innovation, collaborating with new and young companies and developing technology incubators.”
The point of strength and peculiarity of the Fondazione Ricerca & Imprenditorialità is its high-profile founding members representing the world of industry, academia and finance, the three essential pillars of the continuing and sustainable growth of Italy’s economic system, which is grounded on innovation. It is a full-fledged “strategic alliance”, aimed at creating a stable connection between research, innovation and industry, by stimulating the establishment and international development of technology-intensive start-ups. Indeed, the sharing of resources and skills facilitates matching the supply and demand of innovation and partnerships between small high-tech companies and large industries, thus promoting the inclusion of technology-sector SMEs in the innovation-intensive production chain.
In this context, Finmeccanica plays a strategic role by virtue of its international relevance, its presence on the national territory and its technology-intensiveness. The Group is not only a potential user of the innovative capacity promoted by the Foundation through specific initiatives, but can also guide these initiatives on the road to their market consolidation and success.
Together with Finmeccanica, other members of the Fondazione Ricerca & Imprenditorialità are Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, Intesa Sanpaolo, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and Telecom Italia.
