The Ansaldo Foundation was founded in 2000 by Leonardo, then known as Finmeccanica, the Region of Liguria, and the Municipality and Province of Genoa, with a view to collecting and protecting the legacy of archives preserved until then in the Ansaldo Historical Archive and in other industrial companies in Liguria.
The Foundation presents itself as an institution dedicated to protecting and promoting a historical and archiving legacy composed of no less than 15 kilometres of company, accounting, administrative and technical documents mainly acquired, since the 19th century, from the industrial companies in the following groups: Ansaldo, Bombrini, Costa, Dufour, Fincantieri, Finmare, Finmeccanica , Gaslini, Ilva-Italsider, Perrone and others.
But it has also become a research centre dedicated to the themes of economic, business and labour culture, its main fields of action being scientific research, the promotion of cultural activities and top management training, for which today it is deemed a centre of excellence. The training activity, which focuses on the business system, is based on a series of relationships developed, up to the current day, with the academic and scientific world and it has succeeded in acquiring the organisational and methodological tools required to attain its status as a training centre accredited by the Region of Liguria.
Today, the Ansaldo Foundation is a unique heritage, catalyser of higher education projects and activities. At the same time, it also tackles the requirements which emerge on a local level. And last but not least, it is an outstanding regional observatory for interpreting the changes in the reference scenario and adapting the training provided to meet the needs generated by these.
