Finmeccanica: AnsaldoBreda awarded a EUR 210 million contract for the Milan metro system

AnsaldoBreda, a Finmeccanica Company, was awarded by ATM Milano the tender for the supply of 30 metro trains with 6 coaches, for a total amount of EUR 210 million. The order from ATM envisages for a further option for the supply of an additional 30 trains.

The vehicles will replace those currently in operation on lines 1 and 2 of the Milan metro system. Specifically, the lot provides 20 metro trains for line 1 and 10 for line 2. The trains, manufactured by AnsaldoBreda, will be the most modern in circulation, with all the parameters of comfort (air conditioning) and security (internal video surveillance system).

"The success of AnsaldoBreda in this important tender - said Maurizio Manfellotto, CEO of AnsaldoBreda - confirms the Group's competitive capacity and the high technological level achieved by our products. This result is all the more significant in light of the increased international role of Milan as the host city of Expo 2015. This day - the CEO of AnsaldoBreda adds - encourages us to continue in our efforts to make our Company grow and to launch it more and more into a highly competitive market in which we are demonstrating that we can deliver products with an excellent ratio of quality, reliability and price."
